Frameworks – Active Learning Skills
Overview
Active Learning Skills – Improved Academic Results for All Learners
“In solving education and socio-economic challenges, we must recognise the importance and benefits of effective basic learning skills,” highlights a key message from the Frameworks – Active Learning Skills by Ps. Christo van der Merwe.
We expect our children to achieve and excel academically and in life. To fulfil their every dream and aspiration. We want to be proud of their achievements. Therefore, we invest thousands in their education, including programs that integrate frameworks and active learning skills. Frameworks – Active Learning Skills can offer resources that enhance this integration. We buy our own peace of mind. But, as it turns out, that is not enough—and in most cases, it was not necessary. What our children need is a better understanding of the learning process.
They need a new approach to learning. Motivation. Skills. Techniques. Tools.
How could we expect our children to meet our expectations without the skills, techniques, and tools? The role of Frameworks – Active Learning Skills in providing these tools is essential. Could anyone perform their jobs to everyone’s satisfaction without any training or the necessary “tools”?
It’s time to Inspire. Give Hope. Achieve Results. Change Lives.
One of the most critical challenges governments prioritise today is Education, our youth, and the urgent need for improved academic results and lower drop-out rates through frameworks in active learning skills. Frameworks – Active Learning Skills supports these goals by offering comprehensive resources.
Introduction
Frameworks – Active Learning Skills solution will not only improve academic results but also positively change the lives of students, parents, and teachers. It will change perceptions about one’s ability and restore hope. Hope brings higher aspirations and ambition, self-belief, confidence, discipline, perseverance, a positive attitude, and the will to learn and achieve. Success breeds success!
The importance of Basic Learning Skills for ALL students
The education playing field is not equal for all learners. Socioeconomic realities vary widely, and many parents lack the knowledge and financial means to support their children’s academic efforts adequately. Still, expectations exceed achievement. Peer and group pressure to “achieve” and “fit” into socially expected norms drives many youth to associate with groups that share similar fates, attitudes, and values, where they are socially more easily accepted and feel understood. In some groups, learners face additional pressures and may experiment with substances like drugs or engage in criminal activities.
The lack of practical, basic learning skills significantly contributes to student underachievement and poor academic performance, which, in turn, reduces self-esteem, confidence, discipline, and a positive attitude toward learning. Learners (especially those who underachieve) suffer from anxiety, restlessness, avoidance reactions, procrastination, and a waning interest in their studies. The will to learn erodes rapidly, as enrolment and drop-out statistics show.
To address education and socio-economic challenges, we must recognise the importance and benefits of practical basic learning skills. Ignoring them is a critical mistake. It limits what students can achieve and undermines schools’ and teachers’ efforts despite limited resources. Frameworks in active learning skills can bridge this gap.
Basic Learning Skills
A proper understanding of basic learning skills and their benefits remains sadly lacking among many students, parents, and teachers. Integrating frameworks of active learning skills can make a substantial difference.
No single program addresses the needs of ALL the role-players in the learning process. Skills programs often reach only more affluent urban schools, where the need is identified and where programs aid learners in their studies.
Parents also pursue these programs independently to help their children cope with academic challenges outside the school framework. Digital publications like those offered by Frameworks – Digital Publication are instrumental in providing accessible resources.
Despite the high cost of many programs, success remains limited because theoretical knowledge alone is insufficient. The ongoing application of the skills learned to students’ studies is not monitored or ensured, leading students to revert to old study habits soon after completing such courses or programs.
